Domestic Waste
At some point in our lives we all need to hire a skip. Whether it's for a spring clear-out, ripping out a kitchen or bathroom, that new extension or garden waste - skips are great for getting rid of unwanted household waste in one easy go.
At Henshaws we provide a variety of skip sizes & a fast delivery service across the North West. In addition we arrange and advise on necessary road permits, offer same day site removes, a convenient wait and load service & any other issues regarding the siting of your skip.
TIP: Always select a skip slightly larger than you think you will need to avoid disappointment. Remember, you may not over-fill your skip - see below.
What you need to advise us about...
If the skip is to be placed on the highway, including the pavement, then a licence will probably be required from the Highway Authority, under under Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980. We can obtain this Licence for you, but if may mean that we can't offer the Same Day Service that we promise, because Local Authorities don't usually move that quickly, but at least we will be able to give you some idea of the time delay that they might impose.
Hazardous Waste...
Some items of waste require special handling or notification, so you need to tell us if any of the following are likely to be included in your waste:-
Fridges/Freezers
Tyres
Paint Cans
TV's/Monitors
Asbestos
Clinical/Medical Waste
Florescent Tubes
Solvents
Liquids
Oil
Batteries
Plasterboard (max 10% of load)
Hazardous/Toxic Material
If any of the above will appear in your skip, or if you are unsure of any items, then please provide details of the item(s) in the message box at the end of the online contact form on this website, or when ordering by phone to avoid difficulties later.
"Our trained, friendly & helpful staff are always on hand & happy to answer any questions you may have. Henshaws can always advise you towards the best solution for all your waste related requirements"
Warnings...
1. Please don't overfill the skip, because if you do, we may not be able to take it away as overfilled skips will render our drivers liable to be stopped for carrying a dangerous load. If in doubt, order a skip a size larger that you might be tempted to hire, as this may be cheaper in the end than having to have a second skip delivered, with the added cost of a wasted call-out if our driver finds that he cannot take a smaller one away because of over filling.
2. If you require us to place a skip on private property, please be sure that your driveway or wherever you need us to drive over, will take the weight of our lorries, as while we shall take every care, we can't be responsible for broken slabs etc as a result of your instructions.
Visit our 'skip hire' page for more information on skip sizes & costs.
